I guess I can blog now.
First of all, the olympiad that I was talking about the last time? I'm not gonna be able to go. Same old reason: Money. Faced with a whopping 2600 S$ tag that I had to pay if I wanted to go (I'm not gonna get into details, I might end up giving up names if I did), I had no choice but to back off. I'd told myself not to blog for at least a week so I can cool down and resist myself from insulting people online, although I guess that's moot now.
Anyway, I've found something I can work on and hopefully reach a successful solution as I go through an entire week of mindless activities: Boot logging.
In simpler terms, I am setting myself the goal of reducing the OS boot time on my laptop to A SINGLE DIGIT in seconds. I shall go through the entire process here as I make progress, which I definitely will, in trying to accomplish this. This probably means all nighters compiling kernels and poring through dusty old manuals for antiquated commands, but never mind. I've been getting out of touch anyway. And when I'm done, I'll have something to show for it: a 9 second machine, or better!
