Just to clarify, the title doesn't mean that I'm working out, so there. If you're looking for any of that you might as well get off.
But, I am working out. I'm not sure if you'd call it a ghetto style exercise routine, but I'm just trying to fill the hours with... stuff. Go for a bicycle ride, lift some weights, do some crunches, laps, whatever. And things are getting sore so I think I'm qualified to call it a workout. But that's not what this post is about. Its about the why, and its about the quirks and perks. I'm gonna try and do it without sounding like a self-made expert because If I were near one he'd beat me to death with his pectoralis major.
Well, the why is quite important, because it was one of the major reasons why working out was just never in my life. Simply put, I couldn't see any reason why. Now don't get me wrong, its not that I was holed up in my parent's basement playing mmorpgs all day, I did play sports a considerable amount. The thing was that I was a pretty athletic kid, and being a kid I didn't see any reason why there was anything wrong with me the way my body worked. Apart from the occasional cold, it never complained, it never so much as even creaked. So what was the purpose for taking solid hours out of my life, hours I could spend on anything I wanted, and subjecting myself to pain and toil? Muscle gain? I don't think so. It was never my goal and it probably never will be.
So why do I do it, and why do I recommend the non-wannabe-muscleheads like me to do it too? Because it will contribute to your emotional stature. You feel happy, more relaxed after a workout, and it relieves you of stress. Now men may have alternatives, but all of us needn't resort to them all the time. :) Also, if you find time for a workout, it helps you compress your schedule, and since me and most of the people I come in contact with do not operate on a specific plan, we always could compress our schedules and get time out of them. You become prompter, and you suddenly start gaining time. From walking faster to avoiding random chitchat that leads nowhere, time just opens up.
I have found this to be completely true. I mean, being a kid in high school, I still devote more than half of my time to fruitless (or apparently fruitless, just you want and see) pursuits, but these sessions, despite being 'lighhtweight' as some of you may consider them, work. In a summary, I'm a happier person everyday.
Over and out.
